trying to write. i was about to start when i got a voicemail
(i have my phone set to receive calls from a list & fwd
everything else). it is the same place that always calls me -
the message says something like, "to reactivate it to protect
you against the cost of repairs..." it is about my expired
automobile warranty. 1. i do not have a car & 2. i do
not have a license & haven't since we moved to providence.
i hate these calls, i get them almost every day from different numbers.
i've looked it up online and there are tons of people
who get these & i guess there is no way to stop it,
except blocking them as i have done. do you get called
by these people? have you found a way to stop it?

my voicemail ringtone is prince's automatic, that's the
only pleasure in it.

back to attempting.

There's a national do not call list through the government (I believe). I signed my cell phone up, and do not receive those calls.

i've gotten those phone calls too. three of them so far. unfortunately i don't know of any way to stop them. it is horribly annoying. i'm on the do not call list as well.

it's clearly a scam to get money out of people. make people panic and think they have warranties on their cars when many of them don't and then call whatever number is given and throw away money. so annoying :(

if hell exists, i would hope there's a specific place for these sorts of people.

i haven't gotten that kind of call, but i often get text messages that some girl in jersey intends to send to her sister. some times i remind her that i am not her sister, but after a couple weeks she forgets again.

yesterday some unknown person sent several photos of a holocaust memorial to my phone. that was very odd.

from what i've read about it from googling, they just ignore you and keep calling.

When did you add yourself to the Do Not Call list? I just did it last week and after three days the calls stopped.

Make sure you respond to the confirmation email! Perhaps that's the snare.

i used to get the same recorded call EVERY DAY to my home landline number from some fake loan business saying i needed to return their call via some long distance number. looked it up online and that number bugged A LOT of other people but the recommendation was to NOT call to request them to stop as it would only open you up to more calls. i entered that number as a complaint on the Do Not Call site and don't know if it eventually worked but i don't get that call anymore. as for the car insurance one, i find that by not picking up the call they just hang up without leaving a message. and maybe that inactivity caused them to stop also? THEY ARE A BANE. but i would definitely not return the call.

yeah it is multiple numbers so it would take me centuries to enter each number. it is never the same one.

every time i get a call from that auto warranty thing, i report the specific number to DoNotCall. they have died down but they haven't stopped. they seem to use a different phone number... it's bonkers. :(

I was getting that same call on both my work phone and my cell. While at work, I picked up the phone and hung on until an operator came on the line. I told him that I do not own a vehicle and to please take me off the call list. Hopefully that will be the end of it.

someone in a forum said they told the person on the other end to put them on the do not call list, & the telemarketer replied, "i don't have time for this" & hung up.

Oh lordy. So they have time to call you up and bother you with complete bullshit, but they don't have time to do something that is actually productive. :::eye roll:::

i get those, too! usually it's from an area code i don't recognize and i assume it's "them". but sometimes the numbers are local, i pick up, and it's..."them".

i hate "them". this has been going on for months.

I receive them about every other day. I even tried to press the numbers they want you to choose, but the phone just hangs up and then they call you again almost immediately. I've heard a lot of people complaining about it!

i get that exact same message at least once a week. it's been happening for about a year now. even if i answer, it is still a prerecorded message!
